The 90 MUFC Navy girls finished a magical season on Sunday in the USYS State Cup finals, but falling just short of a state championship, losing 1-0 to the Greensboro Twisters. 

The 2008 season has been a fantastic one for the 90 Navy.  Led by Coach Chip Wiggins, the girls won 18 straight games this Fall including 18 straight with no goals allowed.  The string of games included 5 wins in the Atlanta Cup, 9 wins in the North Carolina Premier League and 4 State Cup victories.

During State Cup play, the team beat two Region III Premier teams, CSC Blue and CASL Elite, on their way to the first ever USYS State Cup finals appearance for any Mecklenburg Union FC team. 

This team includes many girls who have played at MUFC their entire club career and four girls have already verbally committed to play in college in 2009.  Congratulations to Coach Wiggins and the girls on a fantastic season and a great run in the State Cup.
